In conversation today with Christoph de Vries, Member of the Bundestag (CDU) and rapporteur in the Committee on Internal Affairs for churches, religious communities and the German Islam Conference.We presented the work of the WerteInitiative as a Jewish-German civil-society voice and exchanged views on, among other things, civic education and the flaring up of antisemitism as a “marker” of negative developments in social cohesion and of attempts to erode the free democratic basic order as a whole. Particular attention was paid to aspects of legalistic Islamism, integration, and the future composition of the German Islam Conference. A most informative and interesting conversation!
