2. What we do not use

This is a translation for information purposes. The legally binding version is the German one.

We do not use any analytics or statistics services, no advertising networks, no tag manager, no counting pixels and no profiling. Fonts, images and the background video on the home page are held on our own server, so that no connection to third parties is established. We do not use Google reCAPTCHA; our spam protection works without external services. Earlier versions of this policy named such services – they are not in use on this website.

3. When you visit our website

Each time a page is called up, your browser transmits technical data which our host stores in server log files: the address called up, the date and time, the volume of data transferred, the browser type and version, the operating system, the previously visited page and your IP address.

This data is necessary so that the website can be delivered and helps us to detect faults and attacks. We do not combine it with other data and do not evaluate it in a person-related manner. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f GDPR (DSGVO – the EU General Data Protection Regulation, cited here in the German form); our legitimate interest is the secure and stable operation of the website. The server log files are kept only for a short time and are then deleted automatically.

The website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Inhaber René Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf. A contract for processing on behalf pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR (DSGVO) has been concluded with the host; it processes the data only on our instructions. The connection is encrypted throughout with TLS, recognisable by the “https” and the padlock symbol in the browser.

4. Cookies and your consent

Without your consent we store only what is technically necessary on your device: the cookies of our consent banner – their names begin with “cmplz” – which record your choice for up to twelve months, and the WordPress login cookies, which concern logged-in editorial staff only. The legal basis is § 25 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 TDDDG (the German Digital Services Data Protection Act) in conjunction with Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f GDPR (DSGVO).

Everything else is loaded only once you have given your consent; the legal basis for this is § 25 Abs. 1 TDDDG and Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a GDPR (DSGVO). You can change or withdraw your decision at any time via “Change cookie settings” in the footer of the page. Processing that took place before the withdrawal remains lawful. Which cookies are set in detail is set out in our Cookie Policy.

5. Embedded videos, podcast episodes and presentations

In our articles we embed videos from YouTube, podcast episodes from Podcaster.de and, in one case, a presentation from Prezi. This content is not loaded automatically: as long as you have not given your consent, you will see a preview tile in its place and no connection to the provider is established.

Only once you consent does your browser retrieve the content from the provider. In doing so, the provider learns your IP address and which page you are visiting, and it may store cookies or similar recognition technologies on your device. If you are logged in with the provider, it can attribute the retrieval to your account. The legal basis is your consent pursuant to § 25 Abs. 1 TDDDG and Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a GDPR (DSGVO); you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.

  • YouTube – Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We use the youtube-nocookie.com variant. Google privacy policy
  • Podcaster.de – our podcast host; the episodes are delivered from its servers. podcaster.de
  • Prezi – Prezi Inc., San Francisco, USA. Prezi privacy policy

Google Ireland is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. In the case of providers outside the EU – here Prezi – a level of protection comparable to that in the EU cannot be guaranteed in every case; the transfer is then based on your express consent pursuant to Art. 49 Abs. 1 lit. a GDPR (DSGVO).

Preview images in the media library

On the page Media Library we show small preview images of the event recordings, which are loaded directly from YouTube’s image server when the page is called up. No cookies are set in the process, but Google learns your IP address and the page called up. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f GDPR (DSGVO); our legitimate interest lies in a comprehensible overview of the recordings. We are preparing to move these preview images to our own server; after that, this retrieval will no longer take place either.

6. Contact form and e-mail

Via the contact form we collect your name, your e-mail address, a subject if you wish and your message. The details are not stored in the website’s database, but are transmitted as an e-mail to our office (kontakt@werteinitiative.de) and processed there.

The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a GDPR (DSGVO), which you give by ticking the box below the form; where the matter concerns the initiation or performance of a membership, it is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b GDPR (DSGVO). We keep your enquiry until it has been dealt with and no further questions are to be expected, at the latest until your withdrawal or your request for erasure; statutory retention obligations remain unaffected. The same applies to enquiries that you send us directly by e-mail or by telephone.

7. Membership application and registration for the Freundeskreis (circle of friends)

If you would like to become a member or to join the Freundeskreis, we collect the following via the relevant form: form of address and title, first name and surname, date of birth, postal address, e-mail address, your telephone number if you wish, the amount of your membership fee or supporting donation, the chosen method of payment and – if you choose the SEPA direct debit procedure – your bank details with account holder, IBAN, BIC and the name of the bank, as well as any remarks you may have.

We use these details in order to process your application, to administer your membership or your support and to collect fees and donations. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b GDPR (DSGVO) (establishment and performance of the membership or support relationship). For details that enter the accounts, Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. c GDPR (DSGVO) applies in addition: we keep accounting vouchers and donation receipts for up to ten years in accordance with the periods under tax and commercial law. We keep your SEPA mandate for as long as it is valid and beyond that for as long as reclaims are possible.

These forms, too, store nothing in the website’s database; the details are sent encrypted as an e-mail to our office and are transferred from there into our membership administration.

8. Newsletter

Our newsletter is run via the registration form of an external service provider. The button “Subscribe to our newsletter” takes you there in a new tab – registration therefore takes place outside this website, and the data protection notices of that provider, which you can identify from the address bar when the form opens, additionally apply to it. In essence, your e-mail address is collected.

We use your address exclusively in order to send you the newsletter; it is not passed on for any other purpose. The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a GDPR (DSGVO). You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in every issue or by sending us an e-mail; we will then delete your address from the distribution list.

9. Links to our profiles on social networks

In the header and the footer we link to our profiles on X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube. These are simple links, not embedded content: a connection to these networks is established only when you click on one of the links. From that point on, the data protection provisions of the respective network apply.

10. Your rights

You have the following rights vis-à-vis us at any time:

  • Access to information about which data we process concerning you, where it comes from and to whom we pass it on (Art. 15 GDPR (DSGVO))
  • Rectification of incorrect data and completion of incomplete data (Art. 16 GDPR (DSGVO))
  • Erasure, unless a statutory retention obligation stands in the way (Art. 17 GDPR (DSGVO))
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR (DSGVO))
  • Data portability in a commonly used, machine-readable format (Art. 20 GDPR (DSGVO))
  • Objection to processing operations which we base on a legitimate interest, on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR (DSGVO))
  • Withdrawal of consent given, with effect for the future (Art. 7 Abs. 3 GDPR (DSGVO))

An informal e-mail to kontakt@werteinitiative.de is sufficient. The information is free of charge for you.

Irrespective of this, you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example with the supervisory authority responsible for us, the Berliner Beauftragten für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (Art. 77 GDPR (DSGVO)).

11. How long we store data

We store personal data only for as long as we need it for the respective purpose. After that we delete it – unless we are required by law to retain it, for example in the case of accounting vouchers, or the data is still needed in order to assert or defend legal claims. In these cases we delete it once the periods have expired. The individual periods are set out in the sections above.

Automated decision-making and profiling do not take place. Your data is not sold and is not passed on to third parties for advertising purposes.

12. Status of this policy

Status: August 2026. We adapt this policy when the technology of this website or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies in each case.
