An engaging evening at the invitation of the CDU parliamentary group in Berlin. Our guest was the head of the Berlin Verfassungsschutz (the state’s domestic intelligence service), Bernd Palenda. For more than two hours, the discussion centred on safeguarding the freiheitlich demokratische Grundordnung (Germany’s free democratic basic order) and on dealing with antisemitism coming from a wide variety of directions.
