Invitation: Values-based democracy in Germany – from the head to the heart

The protection of democracy and freedom concerns us all. On 9 November in particular, the question arises of how the lessons of history can be carried over into the present. The Jewish association WerteInitiative is therefore putting this topic in the spotlight and, as part of the first Berliner Woche der Freiheit , invites you to a panel discussion with a top-class line-up:

How can the humanistic values of the Grundgesetz hold society together? How do they create a shared emotional basis and a feeling of belonging for all citizens?

The dry term “constitutional patriotism” has to be filled with substance and emotion. Instead of defining the nation through descent and origin, an enlightened view places communal life on the basis of shared values. The foundation of these values are the universal principles of the Grundgesetz: freedom, equality and justice and the rule of law.

The event is the twelfth part of the discussion series “360° – Securing Jewish life and democracy”.
