In the meeting with the Acting Director of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Berlin, Remko Leemhuis, and the chairman of the WerteInitiative, Elio Adler, it quickly became clear that the AJC’s international approach and the WerteInitiative’s more local approach lead to similar topics and arrive at equally similar conclusions: the conditions for Jewish life are becoming more difficult. The struggle to secure it goes far beyond “Jewish concerns” and affects a wide spectrum of challenges. Jewish organisations should therefore remain in good contact and work side by side to defend the values of freedom, security and democracy in Germany and the world.
