Since 2021, WerteInitiative – jüdisch-deutsche Positionen (WI) has run an annual educational trip to the federal capital for young adults with a lasting interest in, and commitment to, political democracy education from a Jewish-German perspective. On this basis, and with the support of the Stiftung Erinnerung, Verantwortung und Zukunft (EVZ), it was possible to develop a new, sustainable leadership programme for the next generation, which has now taken place in this form for the second time.In cooperation with:Building on the 2024 introductory seminar, this year’s advanced seminar offered a direct insight into politics and the media in the federal capital. During the previous seminar, the participants were given the opportunity to fill the abstract image of “politicians” and their work with concrete content. This year, the participants were able to receive first-hand input from civil society actors, representatives of the youth wings of the parties and Jewish and Israeli representatives on important skills, insights and experiences for their own political work. Media organisations and a WerteInitiative panel discussion held as part of Berlin Freedom Week were also visited. For the participants there were special workshops on successful political engagement and activism, including on social media.
The advanced seminar built on the coaching and mentoring offered to the participants in 2025 and, ultimately, on the content of the introductory seminar. The aim was to motivate the participants towards lasting political engagement in democratic parties and to build a network among themselves for exchange and potential cooperation.
