Jews in Germany have been feeling increasingly unsafe – and not only since the attempted attack on the synagogue in Halle. Germany is changing. Radical forces from various directions are trying to divide society. The number of antisemitic offences keeps rising. That is why the WerteInitiative runs a series of discussions on a wide range of topics that matter for the cohesion of a free and democratic society. It is precisely these topics that decide whether there is a Jewish future in Germany. High-calibre panels have dealt with right-wing extremism, Islamism, left-wing extremism, the political and social “centre”, disinformation, extremism in the security services, the Islamic associations, and the Basic Law as the foundation of our society.
In the conversations with our guests and experts we look for concrete answers to the following questions:
- Who exactly are these radical forces that threaten our democracy?
- What unites them, what sets them apart?
- Is the future of Jewish life in Germany secure?
- How can society hold together?
The events are generally designed as in-person events for invited guests and are afterwards available as video recordings.
