“Tacheles” – against legends and clichés in history and politics

In his new book (Herder), Michael Wolffsohn once again proves himself a brilliant historian and analyst of the political present. In his previously unpublished texts he clears away clichés and legends in history and politics. He criticises current antisemitism in Germany, as well as the way politics deals with it, sharply and pointedly, and attacks the argumentation patterns of many populists. Further contributions examine German Middle East policy and, in this context, ask what freedom actually is.

Prof. Michael Wolffsohn, the much-decorated historian, presents “Tacheles” in conversation with Prof. Wolfgang Huber, one of Germany’s most distinguished theologians. For decades Prof. Huber spoke out on important ethical questions and social debates as a representative of the Evangelical Church. Today he teaches theology at Berlin’s Humboldt-Universität, in Heidelberg and in South Africa.Note: In the course of the event, photographs and video recordings will be made for public use without identification by name.Ticket price: 12 EUR
