The FDP parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives is in opposition. As a party of the centre it is thus, in the federal capital, a corrective to the government policy of the red-red-green Senate.Nevertheless, the conversation with the Berlin chairman of the FDP parliamentary group, Sebastian Czaja, was not marked by scolding of the government, but by the topic of responsibility. Each individual’s assumption of responsibility is the basis of democracy. Personal responsibility is what frightens the conspiracy mythologists, and it is one of the values in Judaism and in the FDP’s canon of values. In such a plural city, with such differing concepts of life, it is therefore a challenge to determine how much responsibility is demanded of the citizens.
