Yesterday the Chairman of the Board, Elio Adler, and the head of the WerteInitiative office met with the Chair of the Committee on Internal Affairs and Community, Andrea Lindholz (CSU), at the Bundestag. The Committee on Internal Affairs has a wide-ranging remit. It has to reconcile internal security for the community with civil rights for the individual. Besides exercising parliamentary oversight of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and its subordinate federal authorities, it also prepares important legislative proposals before they can be adopted in the plenary. After we had presented the work of the WerteInitiative, we spoke, among other things, about how to deal with the anti-Israeli BDS campaign, on which we handed Ms Lindholz a dossier. We agreed that the free democratic basic order is a valuable asset. Preserving it and filling it with positive meaning also helps to counter extremism in every form. In this context we also discussed a zero-tolerance policy towards enemies of democracy and possible preventive measures.
