Call for applications: Young Leadership Seminar – “Political Berlin” 2023

6. July 2023

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME FOR A JEWISH-GERMAN FUTURE / 12-14 NOVEMBER 2023WerteInitiative – jüdisch-deutsche Positionen (WI) is organising an educational trip to the federal capital for young adults who take a lasting interest in, and are committed to, political democracy education from a Jewish-German perspective. The multi-day leadership programme for young talent offers a direct insight into political Berlin. Participants are given the opportunity to fill the abstract image of “politicians” and their work with concrete content. In meetings with members of the Bundestag from several parliamentary groups, former members of the Bundestag, Jewish politicians and representatives of the political foundations, participants can receive first-hand input on important skills, insights and experiences for political work. The aim is to motivate participants towards lasting political engagement in democratic parties and to form a network among themselves for exchange and potential cooperation.Application deadline: 15.10.2023.In cooperation with:

Why?

Jewish citizens of Germany are strongly under-represented in politics. In cooperation with the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk (ELES) and the Jüdische Studierendenunion Deutschland (JSUD), our Young Leadership Seminar aims at stronger participation of Jewish people – and of people close to Jewish-German topics – in the democratic parties and in politics.

The participants of the Young Leadership Seminar should have the opportunity to get to know federal politicians, to ask them about their political career paths and to understand how one finds one’s way through the “thicket” between constituency group and state list, direct mandates and working groups, and how one can go one’s own way. Furthermore, participants should be made aware of the particular link between Jewish-German topics and the fundamental pillars of a free and democratic society. Added value is also conceivable for the participating politicians of the Bundestag parliamentary groups: through direct contact they experience and learn what concerns citizens from our population group.

Who?

The call for applications is aimed at politically interested people over 18 years of age living in Germany. A link to Jewish participation and engagement, or a lasting involvement with Jewish-German topics, is a prerequisite for taking part in the seminar.
