Invitation: study trip to political Berlin – “Political Forum of WerteInitiative”

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME FOR A JEWISH-GERMAN FUTURE / 20-22 NOVEMBER 2022WerteInitiative – jüdisch-deutsche Positionen (WI) is organising a study trip to the federal capital for young adults who take a lasting interest in, and are committed to, civic education for democracy from a Jewish-German perspective. The multi-day leadership programme for young talent offers a direct insight into political Berlin. Participants are given the opportunity to fill the abstract image of „politicians“ and their work with concrete content. In meetings with members of the Bundestag from several parliamentary groups, former members of the Bundestag, Jewish politicians and representatives of the political foundations, participants can obtain first-hand input on important skills, insights and experiences for political work. The aim is to motivate participants towards lasting political engagement in democratic parties and to build a network among themselves for exchange and potential cooperation.Application deadline: 30.09.2022.In cooperation with:

Why?

Jewish citizens of Germany are strongly under-represented in politics. In cooperation with the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk (ELES) and the Jüdische Studierendenunion Deutschland (JSUD), our study trip aims at stronger participation of Jewish people – and of people close to Jewish-German topics – in the democratic parties and in politics.

The participants of the study trip should have the opportunity to get to know federal politicians, to ask them about their political career paths and to understand how one finds one’s way through the „thicket“ between constituency groups and state lists, direct mandates and working groups, and can go one’s own way. Furthermore, participants should be shown the particular link between Jewish-German topics and the fundamental pillars of a free and democratic society. Added value is also conceivable for the participating politicians of the Bundestag parliamentary groups: in direct contact they experience and learn what citizens from our section of the population are concerned about.

Who?

The call is aimed at politically interested people over 18 living in Germany. A connection to Jewish participation and engagement, or a lasting engagement with Jewish-German topics, is a prerequisite for taking part in the study trip.
