We are shocked. Shocked by the aggression directed at us as Jews by apparently Muslim sections of society. Through their slogans they let us know that we are either to be massacred or to live as extorted dhimmis under their rule. (With thanks to mena-watch: “Another slogan ran: ‘Khaybar Khaybar ya yahud, jaish Mohammed sa yaoud’ = ‘Khaybar, Khaybar, oh you Jews! Mohammed’s army will soon return!’ – a reference to the Battle of Khaybar in the year 628, in which the Prophet Mohammed and his followers fought against the Jews living in the oasis of Khaybar. The Jews were forced to surrender after many of them had been massacred.”)
We are disappointed at how numerous and how committed these people are when they are mobilised against Jews and against the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel – and at how impossible it is to witness anything even remotely comparable from them in condemning Islamist terror.
We are shocked, but not surprised. As long ago as 2014, during the Gaza war, these people wished death upon us! We are deeply concerned that the US President’s announcement recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel appears to trouble German politics more than these haters do, 200 metres from the Reichstag. After a while the police broke up the gathering. These “demonstrators” continue to carry their hatred through the city. We appeal to those responsible at state and federal level to do everything in their power, as a matter of urgency, to prevent such scenes now and in the future. Kettling the crowd, establishing the identities of those involved and arresting the ringleaders would have been a sensible way of protecting society from these people. This abuse of the right to freedom of expression and of the right to demonstrate is intolerable.
