For us, as an association active in domestic policy, the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community is one of the most important points of contact. In today’s meeting between State Secretary Dr Markus Kerber, our member Ben Salomo and our chairman Elio Adler, we discussed the elements we consider important which pose dangers to civil peace in Germany. It was most gratifying to see that Dr Kerber and the other Ministry staff present shared a very similar understanding of the problems, and that many of our possible approaches to solutions were readily appreciated. One of many subjects was how to deal with the anti-Israeli BDS movement, on which we handed the State Secretary a dossier. Dealing with extremists of every kind, integration and the need to be a “democracy capable of defending itself” were further topics of the conversation.
