
Our conversation yesterday with the FDP’s foreign policy expert, Bijan Djir-Sarai, dealt among other things with the close connection between foreign and domestic policy.

We exchanged views at length on the current political situation in the Near and Middle East. The lines of conflict there have become even more complex in recent years. The fact that Germany and Europe are not actors to be taken seriously in the region is extremely problematic in this context. We also spoke about the growing antisemitism in Germany. We agree that politics and civil society must take a far stronger stand against it.
