Konstantin von Notz, MdB, is deputy chair of the Greens’ parliamentary group in the Bundestag and the group’s commissioner for religion and worldviews. We used our meeting among other things to talk with him about our current trilogy: „360° – Bedrohungen für jüdisches Leben in Deutschland und Gefahren für die freiheitliche Demokratie“ (360° – threats to Jewish life in Germany and dangers to liberal democracy). Our discussion series deals with the forms of extremism right-wing extremism, Islamism and left-wing extremism.
In the conversation it became clear that although looking at the extreme margins of society is important, the ‚centre‘ must not be neglected in the process. What holds it together, which attitudes hostile to freedom are to be found within it and how can we take action against them as a society and as a state under the rule of law?
WerteInitiative will certainly address these and other questions in the election year 2021, because they are of great importance for the future of Jewish life in Germany.”
