On Wednesday, 13 November 2019, we met Dr Irene Mihalic (@Greens) for a conversation. Elio Adler was accompanied by Johannes Sarcher, our adviser to the board. During the exchange we presented the work of the WerteInitiative: securing a Jewish future in Germany. Part of this is naming the issues that endanger this future. Alongside a growing threat from the far right, these include other extremists who endanger civil peace. One subject of the conversation was therefore a possible ban on the activities of Hezbollah. We stressed to Dr Mihalic that this issue carries particular symbolic force within Germany itself. Independently of this, we agreed that defending and strengthening the free democratic basic order must remain at the centre of our efforts. We thank Dr Mihalic for a most agreeable conversation.
