A free society has to be defended. In conversation with State Secretary Marco Wanderwitz (CDU) of the Federal Ministry of the Interior we gave our input on this: criminal law already contains Section 46(2). It is intended, as it were, as an “FDGO protective shield” to take the motive for an offence into account when determining the level of punishment. Alongside the criteria already contained in the law, such as xenophobia, racism and misanthropy, antisemitism should in our view also be expressly included. Another topic was our demand for a ban on Hezbollah. The formation of political opinion is complex here, as different actors perceive the matter differently. Mr Wanderwitz was well able to follow our arguments in favour of such a ban.
