At the Quds march people demonstrate not only against Israel, but also against core elements of our values: like Germany, Israel is a state under the rule of law with a living democracy, closely bound to us not only by history but also by shared values and similar challenges.
Yet this hate event is evidently covered by freedom of expression: the extremists are loud and stretch every legal possibility as far as it will go in their favour. That is why we, as the civic centre that protects social cohesion, must show that the majority takes to the streets against hatred and extremism. So if something like this has to be tolerated in the name of freedom of expression, then it must be met with many loud counter-opinions.
