More articles are written and more views discussed about Israel than about any other country in the world. Nevertheless, such discourses often lapse into familiar stereotypes and clichés. Admittedly, Israel is not always easy to understand and matters are complicated. But what does Israel actually have to do with us? In this anthology, fifteen renowned national and international authors engage, in part from very personal perspectives, with political, historical and social content. They warn that a new kind of antisemitism, disguising itself as “anti-Zionism”, appears to be gaining social acceptance: they are Harry Bergman, Wolf Biermann, Jalen Engelmeier, Mill Ana Funk, Peter Schwimmer, Charles Lewinsky, Ahmed Mansour, Doron Rabinovich , Julia Rabinovich, Esther Shapira, Robert Schindel, Ben Segenreich, Joshua Sobol, Danielle Spera and Christian Ultsch.Esther Schapira has been a politics and society editor and head of contemporary history at Hessischer Rundfunk since 1995. Her films have been honoured with, among others, the Deutscher Kritikerpreis (1996) and the Rias television award (1995).
