Koscher durch die Krisen – An evening with and about Jewish humour
In its series “Werte(Initiative) in der Diskussion”, WerteInitiative, in cooperation with the Literaturhandlung, invites you to a humorous but not entirely unserious evening with the author and columnist Michael Wuliger. If we understand the joke as a playful narration of social crises, what distinguishes the Jewish joke is that it is “cheerfully accepted sorrow about the contradictions of this world” (Carlo Schmid). Wuliger thus guides us through the evening with excerpts from his columns and gives us an insight into the world of Jewish humour. Moderation: Leonard Kaminski, WerteInitiative e.V.
About our guest:
Michael Wuliger, born in London in 1951, grew up in Wiesbaden, studied in Marburg and lives in Berlin. From 1991 to 2016 he was head of the arts section of the “Jüdische Allgemeine”, where his column “Wuligers Woche” appeared from 2017 to 2020. A selection of these texts was published in 2020 under the title “Koscher durch die Krisen” by the publisher Hentrich & Hentrich Leipzig.
