In the run-up to the Bundestag election, WerteInitiative e.V. has produced an eight-part video clip series under the title “WahlMotivation 2021”. In it, members of the non-governmental organisation explain why taking part in the elections is important to them as voters and as German Jews.
Alongside regular members of the association, board member Lydia Bergida, who is also a co-founder of the WerteInitiative, takes part. “Support for those forces that really want to fight antisemitism is existential,” she says in her clip. “The more democrats go and vote, the weaker the radicals become.”
85-year-old recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit Herbert Rubinstein, the physician and author Yael Adler, the rapper Ben Salomo and further members of the WerteInitiative also campaign in video clips for “going to vote”.
The purpose of the series is to remind us all that democracy and freedom cannot be taken for granted, and to motivate people to vote independently of any party.
The “WahlMotivation 2021” videos were produced by Ilja Kagan from Düsseldorf. The first video clip will be published on 23 August 2021 on the WerteInitiative’s social media channels. Seven further clips will follow before the election.
