On our tour through several German cities we met Jewish women and men in Frankfurt/Main today. We wanted to hear: what exactly are their fears, topics and proposals for federal policy? What is necessary, from the point of view of Jewish Germans, to make a Jewish future in Germany possible? There was consensus that we find it hard to comprehend that the relevance of “our” topics for the majority society is so little recognised. The participants also showed great irritation that topics such as “antisemitism” and “preserving democracy” apparently still have too low a status among the police forces, public prosecutors and judges, but also in teacher training.
We are collecting the further, concrete points from this and other events in a working paper and will then communicate the content to politics.
