Happy Birthday, Grundgesetz! Seventy years ago, on 23 May, our Basic Law was born. It is the most important cornerstone of a free, democratic and tolerant Germany. Human dignity, freedom of expression and freedom of faith, conscience and creed are fundamental rights enshrined in our constitution.
If these values are to remain alive in Germany in the future, every one of us is called upon. We must all live by them! Let us be active and give 70 years of the Basic Law the celebration it deserves.
We invited you to take part: to create a video showing what you think about the Basic Law and what “freedom, democracy, tolerance” and other democratic values mean in your life. The clips were to be no longer than 15 seconds.
