How can it be that people who stand up for diversity, human rights and equality sympathise with terrorist organisations such as Hamas? Why is it that the Islamic regime in Iran, or groups such as Hamas or Hizbullah, are glorified by parts of the progressive scene as anti-colonial resistance – even though they oppress women, persecute homosexuals and persecute, torture and execute political opponents? That is no coincidence. Behind it lies a world view that divides the world into oppressors and oppressed – and places Israel on the side of the perpetrators.
Our guest is the philosopher and antisemitism researcher Ingo Elbe. For years he has worked on antisemitism, Marxism and the ideological foundations of present-day hatred of Israel. We delve into the theoretical, ideological basis of these world views and talk about postcolonial theories.
