WI-Talk: Do not forget the hostages. A conversation with the father of Itay Chen

On 7 October, Hamas murdered 1,200 people with unimaginable brutality, among them dozens of German citizens. 251 people were abducted to Gaza. On that day the lives of countless people were turned upside down, including the lives of the hostages’ families, who lost relatives without knowing exactly what had happened. Ruby Chen is one of them. His son Itay Chen, a 19-year-old with German and Israeli citizenship and an IDF soldier who was defending his country at the Nahal Oz army base on 7 October, was abducted to Gaza.

Itay is one of the seven remaining German citizens who have been held captive in Gaza for 633 days. In March 2024 the military informed the family that Itay had not survived the attack of 7 October, which to this day has not been confirmed by Hamas. To this day the family has no indication of his whereabouts.

Ruby Chen has become one of the loudest voices in favour of a hostage deal and continues to fight. We thank Ruby for his courageous commitment in this difficult time and stand wholeheartedly alongside all relatives and hostages.

BRING THEM HOME NOW.
