Since the Hamas attack on Israel of 7 October, Jew-hatred in Germany has also increased sharply. Antisemitic protests at universities in particular are now attracting a great deal of attention.
This edition of the WI-Talk is about the mood at a Jewish university – to be precise, at the Hochschule für Jüdische Studien in Heidelberg. Among the questions clarified are how the mood at the university has been perceived since 7 October, whether there have been incidents of antisemitism there too, and how the university deals with them. We discuss this with the rector of the Hochschule für Jüdische Studien Heidelberg, Prof. Dr Werner Arnold, and with Cornelia D’Ambrosio, chair of the university’s student representative body and deputy chair of the Bund Jüdischer Studierender Baden.
