At present we see again and again how Israel is delegitimised as a colonial state. And it is precisely for this reason that we invited the journalist and contemporary witness Karl Pfeifer to our WI-Talk.
In 1938 Karl Pfeifer fled from Baden bei Wien to Hungary with his parents. In 1940 he joined the socialist-Zionist youth organisation Haschomer Hatzair. Even before the German occupation of Hungary he managed, together with 50 young people, to escape to Palestine in an adventurous manner. There he lived in a kibbutz and from 1946 served in the elite unit Palmach and, after the founding of the State of Israel, in the Israeli army until 1949, before returning to Austria.
In our WI-Talk, Karl Pfeifer tells our spokesman Leonard Kaminski about the founding of the State of Israel and why the accusation of being a colonial state does not hold at all.
