WerteInitiative had filed a criminal complaint against the operators of the website “www.judas.watch”. The Federal Commissioner against Antisemitism, Dr Felix Klein, and the Antisemitism Commissioner of the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, Claudia Vanoni, were also informed by us and dealt with the case. For this purpose we had handed our detailed background research to the public prosecutor’s office. The proceedings were discontinued.
We are staying on the case and will work to close the loopholes that exist here! In the course of our political work our attention was drawn to the website “www.judas.watch”. By its own description, the purpose of the website is to name “anti-White traitors, agitators and subversives” and to maintain a kind of public database about them. The individuals listed are arranged by field of activity and by country.
This site is moreover explicitly antisemitic, since it seeks to demonstrate “Jewish influence” in the world. To that end it names Jews individually and marks them with a yellow star before their name. The website lists the activities and the supposed or actual connections between the individual people and organisations, and thereby aims to show how much influence Jews – in Germany as well – allegedly have behind the scenes.
A site of this kind constitutes a direct threat to the people named, with incalculable consequences for them, and above all for those specifically marked out as Jews. Taken as a whole, it fulfils the elements of the offence of incitement to hatred.
Alongside the criminal complaints from individual Jewish Germans affected who are named on the site, our own complaint as an association of Jewish Germans is intended to lend weight to the cause from an institutional side as well, with a greater reach into the Jewish community. We want the site to be blocked and the operators to be prosecuted.
Furthermore, now that many months of experience with it have been gathered, the Network Enforcement Act (Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz) needs to be revised and supplemented. In doing so we are concerned not only with the individuals affected by hatred and agitation, but also with making our life together safer for the general public from a Jewish perspective, and with clearly opposing those elements that work to divide our society.
