The event was recorded on 9 September 2020. It took place in cooperation with the “Initiative Säkularer Islam”.It is not only since the attempted attack on the synagogue in Halle that Jews in Germany have felt increasingly unsafe. Germany is changing. From various sides, radical forces are trying to split society. The number of antisemitic criminal offences is rising continuously.
For this reason WerteInitiative is organising a discussion series on the topics of right-wing extremism, Islamism and left-wing extremism. In conversation with top-class guests and specialists, we search for concrete answers. On 9 September 2020 the 2nd event of the trilogy took place. This time on the topic of Islamism.
Experts have been warning for years of a radicalisation in some mosques in Germany. Society is largely in agreement about the problem of recruitment for Salafist terrorism and its consequences. But what about other large Islamist movements and legalistic associations in Germany? How do we deal with their at times covertly anti-liberty agenda? And what does effective protection against these dangers look like? We therefore want to discuss Islamism – not Islam.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic the event was unfortunately recorded in front of a very small live audience and is now available online.
