The Berlin Public Prosecutor General’s Office has a new commissioner for the subject of antisemitism. Dr Florian Hengst succeeds his predecessor Claudia Vanoni, who four years ago was one of the first antisemitism commissioners of a public prosecutor’s office nationwide. Our conversation dealt among other things with the various areas of law that play a role in protecting Jewish life and the often complex connections between them. It also quickly became clear: in the issues surrounding the endangerment of Jewish life, a multitude of fundamental problems can be identified and, where appropriate, also solved.
