A few days ago we welcomed the Antisemitism Commissioner of the State of Berlin, Samuel Salzborn, to our office. We exchanged views with him on a broad range of topics concerning the safeguarding of Jewish life in Berlin. One thing is clear: antisemitism is a phenomenon affecting society as a whole. Effectively combating all of its forms requires continuous practical commitment to a free and democratic coexistence at many levels. The discussion focused in particular on the importance of school education within the fight against antisemitism. Its significance can hardly be overestimated. Because of the federal structure, school education is not part of the federal government’s „Nationale Strategie gegen Antisemitismus“ (National Strategy against Antisemitism, NASAS). Practical implementation by the Länder is called for here.
Following this interesting conversation, we took the opportunity to thank Samuel Salzborn for his outstanding work. We look forward to our continued cooperation!
