Former Federal President Professor Horst Köhler was already a far-sighted representative of Germany during his term of office, and we therefore had high expectations of the meeting with him. And so we were in agreement: a Jewish future in Germany is inseparably tied to a free democratic society and a functioning constitutional state. Prof. Köhler has always had a particular feel for this – for he was always close to the Jewish community in Germany. His view of us is that of German citizens who can be at home in Germany and who should feel safe in the midst of society. A perspective that we as an association likewise share.
