On 20 November we met Ms Katharina Günther-Wünsch. She is Senator for Education, Youth and Family of the State of Berlin and President of the Kultusministerkonferenz. We presented our publication “Youth – Jewish-German positions” and spoke about current challenges for the field of school as a social and political place. Not only in the aftermath of the Hamas massacre of 7 October is it becoming clear that Islamist and other antisemitic actors are deliberately attempting to exert influence on children and young people. School and social education that convey democratic values and a civic consciousness are the best antidotes here.
We are glad to know that in Ms Günther-Wünsch we have an ally at our side in the fight against antisemitism and for safeguarding democracy.
