On 15 November we met Leni Breymaier, Member of the Bundestag. Among other roles, she is spokesperson and full member of the Committee on Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth as well as spokeswoman of the SPD parliamentary group for the area of family affairs, senior citizens, women and youth. We presented our publication “Jugend – jüdisch-deutsche Positionen” and talked about how diverse the meaning of one’s own “Jewishness” is for the participants in the underlying survey. Naturally, the Hamas massacre of 7 October and its after-effects, which are also being felt here in Germany, were topics of conversation as well. The relevance of anti-Israel demonstrations for majority society too was an important point here. Antisemitism and the glorification of terror, which repeatedly become apparent in this context, are an example of the close link that exists between securing Jewish life and protecting democracy. The enemies of the one are always also enemies of the other.
We warmly thank her for the conversation and for the interest in our topics!
