Our work does not rest even during the parliamentary summer recess. We were therefore pleased about the exchange with Otto Fricke, budget policy spokesman of the FDP parliamentary group in the Bundestag.
At the centre of our conversation were the analysis of, and the need for preventive action to stop, antisemitism in the area of art and culture funding. Artistic freedom must not be abused for state-funded antisemitism. We agreed that experience shows antisemitism in public space can be a significant gauge of manifold crises across society as a whole. It is therefore important to advance both the state and the civil-society strengthening of the free democratic foundation of values. Next year sees the anniversary of 75 years of the Grundgesetz. This significant anniversary would lend itself to various celebrations around the Grundgesetz.
We thank him for the pleasant and interesting conversation and look forward positively to the cooperation!
