On our social media channels we report on our work and activities and comment on current topics.
Dialogue with you is important to us, and objective discussions are just as important to us.
In these we would like to see consideration and respect. We all have an interest in maintaining a friendly and constructive tone, particularly on socio-political topics, and in preventing insults. Such a way of dealing with one another is also to be maintained on the internet. In the context of a peaceful and respectful internet culture we have therefore formulated rules of conduct for users on our platforms.
For a shared and respectful tone we ask users to abide by the following netiquette and point out that a breach of it can lead to a ban.
When you interact with users via our social media channels, please always be aware that there is a human being on the other side. We therefore ask you not to forget the following:
- Respect, esteem and consideration towards other users
- That means: no racist, antisemitic, misanthropic, insulting, threatening, harassing or criminally punishable statements and expressions (emoticons) or content that includes such things.
- No spamming: no arbitrary and unconnected statements or mass sending of the same input
- No roasting/flaming: no publication of insults, swear words or other insulting expressions
- Statements addressed to particular users should be marked as such
- No trolling: no deliberate stirring up of disputes, whether online or in person
- Address technical/formal questions to the platform’s online support
- Observance of data protection under the DSGVO
- No advertising serving commercial purposes
- No use of content and material protected by copyright and the law on quotation
Chatiquette
In addition, the following conditions apply specifically in chat (one-to-one; one-to-all):
On the internet, polite interpersonal conduct has to be assessed differently, since body language and tone of voice are absent here and communication has to take place differently. We therefore ask you to observe the following, especially in one-to-one communication:
- No (excessive) use of CAPITAL LETTERS or bold type, or a stringing together of the same punctuation marks, as this can be interpreted as shouting (at someone) or at least as an aggressive tone.
- No pressuring of other users to exchange private contact details or to flirt with them.
- Even if everyone is in a bad mood now and then, the rule applies, as in real interpersonal dealings, that one does not take one’s bad mood out on others. This also applies when chatting.
- No use of swear words. Bear in mind: calls to violence, racist statements, incitement of the people, (inflammatory) insult and the glorification of drugs, for example, are prosecuted under criminal law.
