It has been known not only since documenta15 that there are massive problems with antisemitism in the art and culture sector. In many places it even appears to be a structural problem. Something must be done about it, and the Berlin Senator for Culture and Social Cohesion Joe Chialo sees it that way too. He therefore introduced an anti-discrimination clause for Berlin’s cultural funding in December 2023. This initiative met with a great deal of approval, especially in the Jewish community.
Because of legal concerns, however, it was initially suspended.
In this WI-Talk we learn at first hand how matters stand with the anti-discrimination clause.
