WI-Talk: The Basic Law and what we can learn from the American way of life

We are convinced that a Jewish future in Germany is possible only through the protection of the values of the free democratic basic order. The Grundgesetz (German Basic Law) and identification with it are the precondition for the safety, visibility and self-determined life of minorities in society. Germany, however, first had to learn democracy and freedom. The United States of America made a substantial contribution to this. Anna Staroselski speaks with Jesse George, Public Diplomacy Advisor at the US Embassy in Berlin, about his identification with the American way of life and with the Basic Law, about differences and commonalities, and about how we can make the values of our democracy tangible.
