For years the Iranian regime has stood for repression, executions and the systematic oppression of women, of members of the opposition and of minorities. Yet only with the most recent protests, with tens of thousands killed and imprisoned, does something appear to be shifting in German politics and public opinion. And we can see this not least on the streets: people are demonstrating loudly and visibly, but the demands and political forces are by no means uniform. Iman Sefati knows the protest scene and the situation in Iran extremely well: he is a journalist, reports regularly on the anti-Israel protest movement and is now also looking very closely at the Iran demonstrations.
