In mid-May, the largest nationwide Jewish youth event, the Jewrovision, took place in the Frankfurter Festhalle. The winning team of this year’s Jewrovision is the Jugendzentrum Berlin Olam.
Anna Staroselski speaks with Camille and Chantal from the winning team about their impressions of the Jewrovision, about the atmosphere in the hall and about the protest on site.
In recent weeks this year’s Jewrovision made headlines in the German-language media, though unfortunately not primarily because of the event itself or, say, because of the winners, but because of the booing of the Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth during her welcoming address at the opening.
We find it regrettable that, in the public debate about this youth event of all things, the perspective of young Jews is being silenced.
