Our guest is Gazelle Sharmahd. Her father, Jamshid Sharmahd, a well-known activist and journalist and a German citizen, was abducted from Dubai by the Iranian regime in 2020, tortured in solitary confinement, convicted in a show trial and executed in 2024. Since then Gazelle has been fighting tirelessly – for justice, for the release of political prisoners and against the trivialisation of terror regimes in the West. We talk about what happened to her father, how Gazelle herself lives, how Western democracies are reacting – and why the case also has parallels with the hostages currently being held by Hamas in Gaza.
