A few days ago we met with Maja Wallstein, member of the Bundestag. Since the summer she has been spokesperson of the “Working Group on Strategies against Right-Wing Extremism” (AG) of the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag. The subject overshadowing everything was of course the Islamist terrorist attack by Hamas, which a few days earlier had cut a cruel caesura into the history of Israel and the Jewish world. In our meeting Ms Wallstein placed herself clearly and unambiguously on the side of Israel and of Jewish life in Germany. The hatred of Jews of these terrorists and the contempt for democracy of all those who cheer their ideology is obvious. We agreed that free societies must not become the victim of extremist ideologues. For next year we have resolved to consider a joint project with the working group.
