On 28.03. we presented our reader “Außenpolitik. Jüdisch-deutsche Perspektiven” (Foreign policy. Jewish-German perspectives) to the member of the Bundestag Dr Tobias Lindner (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen). Mr Lindner is at the same time Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office and responsible, among other things, for the Middle East region. Ministers of State are the level directly below the Foreign Minister and support and represent her as required. That too is why he is an important interlocutor for us.
Our reader shows: the overwhelming majority of the Jews who took part in our survey attribute a relevant role to German foreign policy for their future in Germany. In this they wish the German federal government to pursue a values-based foreign policy that puts human rights in focus and takes a clear stand against anti-democratic regimes and forces.
Dr Tobias Lindner likewise emphasised the importance of a values-based foreign policy. Alongside many current topics we spoke with him, for example, about the necessity of expanding the German-Israeli youth exchange. Encounter is an opportunity to reduce prejudices that must on no account remain unused.
We are pleased to experience in Dr Lindner a Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office who has a clear compass on important topics.
