On 08.07. our chairman, Elio Adler, met the parliamentary group leader of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, Katrin Göring-Eckardt. Also present were the parliamentary group’s adviser on religious policy, Hanna Fülling, and our board adviser, Johannes Sarcher.
Mr Adler presented the work of WerteInitiative. There was broad agreement that the future of Jewish life in Germany must be secured. Jewish life is currently threatened from many sides, including from the centre of society. All democrats must therefore stand together in the fight for a free society and against hatred.
There was likewise agreement on another topic: initiatives to strengthen society-wide solidarity and civil-society commitment against antisemitism must be strengthened and become louder. Greater effort is needed to raise the awareness of the non-Jewish majority society about the risks that antisemitism also poses to social cohesion as a whole.
