Last week we met with the domestic policy spokesperson of the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Sebastian Hartmann. We agreed that we can rightly be proud of the values of our free democratic basic order. They must be positively experienceable and tangible so that our society becomes resilient against the enemies of democracy. A shared idea on this: to make 23 May, as the day of the Grundgesetz (Basic Law), a joyful public holiday! We also exchanged views on one of the greatest current dangers for our democracy: disinformation. In order to be able to counter it effectively, close cooperation between the state, politics and civil society is needed. We thank Sebastian Hartmann very much for the good exchange and look forward to working together!
