On 21 February we met the spokesman on church and religious policy of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Thomas Rachel.
Elio Adler presented the work of WerteInitiative. We agreed that liberal democracy must be defended against its enemies ever anew. Mr Rachel argued for cooperation between the various actors in this field.
As a former Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Mr Rachel emphasised the necessity of adequately resourced research and educational projects in the fight against antisemitism.
There was also broad agreement that Jewish life consists of far more than “only” the fight against antisemitism, but must be understood as a firm part of society and its history.
